For my two-group design I chose to go with how exercise helps with energy. For my two-group design I will include a control group that does not exercise and have them report how much energy they experience after dinnertime.

Two-group design

IV: Exercise

Level 1: Control group: No exercise

Level 2: Experimental group: Exercise

DV: Energy levels after dinner

In my factorial design I will include other variables that can also have an effect on energy such how many meals that are consumed in a day are healthy, as well as what age group they fall under.

Factorial Design (3x2x2)

IV1: Exercise

·       Level 1: 0 days/week

·       Level 2: 1-3 days/week

·       Level 3: 4-7 days/week

IV2: Healthy meals

·       Level 1: 0-2 per day

·       Level 2: 3-4 per day

IV3: Age Groups

·       Level 1: 25-35

·       Level 2: 36-46

DV: Energy levels after dinner

I think that factorial designs allow us to get more information into our research that will provide a more complete design. Like in the research example I chose above. I am including other factors that will definitely have an impact on how energetic we feel at the end of our busy day.
